Adam Rutter from Woodbridge Park GC comes 2nd in Portugal
In June 2016, our member Adam Rutter took on the Macmillan Longest Day Challenge with a few friends at Woodbridge Park Golf Club, starting his first of four rounds at 4.30am. His score was submitted along with some 2000 golfers from around the country as a qualifyer to The Hilton Golf Championship. Adam found himself in the top 20 golfers (5 from each handicap bracket) and qualified for the finals.
The finals were held between Saturday 15th – 18th October at Quinta do Lago, Algarve, Portugal. The two round tournament was a medal format with full handicap. The first round was on the tough Larajal course where Adam held a good position after the 18 holes. The second and final round was held on the Quinta do Lago South championship course, where the Portuguese Open has been held no less than eight times. Adam played well and managed advance up the leaderboard to finish as runner-up, missing out by only 2 shots.
Before teeing off for the final round, Adam was part of a golf clinic which was held by world number 34 Tyrrell Hatton, who finished 4th in the Race to Dubai this year.
Well played Adam and what an experience.
